Data Science at CSEM

Data Analytics Group invited the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) to present their research and exciting projects.

CSEM is a Swiss research and development centre active in the fields of precision manufacturing, digitalization, and renewable energy. It follows a public-private not-for-profit partnership model. CSEM develops and transfers technologies that are considered relevant in progressing the Swiss national economy.

Data science and artificial intelligence have been increasingly been helping CSEM accelerate research and deploy new technologies.

Four keynote speakers will share dinsight into how AI is used to develop solutions in e-health, energy and vision:

Ricard Delgado Gonzalo gave an introduction to CSEM and then talked about “Wearables in Digital Health”.

Clémentine Aguet presented how data-driven models can be used in e-health and the limitations of such approaches.

David Honzátko talked about surface defect detection which is an important step in industrial production; however, many defects are visible only in certain illumination conditions.

Jelena Simeunovic presented how deep learning models, specifically the graph neural networks are used in energy systems in order to predict future power production and improve grid management.
